Which documents can it read?

Electricity, water, gas, mobile, broadband, DTH and credit card bills; health, vehicle and life insurance; passports, driving licences, Aadhaar, PAN and voter ID; PUC and RC; shop invoices and warranties. Photos (JPG, PNG, and HEIC on iPhone) and PDFs, including scanned and password-protected ones.

How accurate is it?

It does best with printed English text on a flat page in good light. When it can’t find something that matters, like a policy’s end date, it says so and asks you to check. Every detail can be edited, and nothing is hidden: you can see all the text it read.

Will I get reminders when the app is closed?

Inside Linenfold, reminders show on the home screen and as a badge. Web apps can’t reliably send alerts while closed, so Linenfold adds reminders to your phone’s own calendar with one tap. The calendar then alerts you at 9 am on the reminder day and again the day before.

Can my spouse see the same documents?

Yes. Turn on encrypted backup and sync on both phones with the same email and passphrase, and changes flow both ways. If you’d rather not use an account, save a backup file and open it on the other phone: restoring adds what’s missing and never overwrites anything.

What if I lose my phone?

With encrypted backup turned on, sign in on the new phone and enter your passphrase (or recovery key) and everything comes back. Without it, your documents are only as safe as your last backup file, which you can keep on Google Drive, iCloud, a computer or a pen drive. Either way, nobody can open them without your passphrase.

Do I need to install anything or sign up?

No sign-up needed; the encrypted backup is optional. It opens in Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox. For the best experience add it to your home screen: it then opens like an app, and after your first scan it works without internet.

Does it read Hindi or other languages?

It reads English text today. Most Indian bills, policies and IDs print the important details in English, so bilingual documents work well. Documents written only in another language are stored and can be filled in by hand.
