Using Linenfold

Linenfold is a tool for organising your household’s documents on your own device. You may use it for personal and family purposes. Only add documents you have the right to keep.

Your documents are your responsibility

Linenfold stores documents only on your device. We cannot see, back up or recover them. You are responsible for keeping backups; if your device is lost, reset or its browser data is cleared, documents without a backup are lost. If you forget the passphrase of a locked backup, it cannot be opened.

Reminders and automatic reading are aids, not guarantees

Linenfold reads documents automatically and may misread or miss details such as amounts, due dates and expiry dates. Reminders depend on those dates and on your device and calendar working as expected. Always check important dates against the original document. Linenfold is not responsible for missed payments, lapsed policies, expired documents, fines or other losses.

No advice

Linenfold does not give legal, financial, tax or insurance advice. Reminder timings (for example six months before a passport expires) are general conveniences, not official requirements.

Names of companies

Names of utilities, insurers, shops and brands appear only to describe documents you add. Linenfold is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Open-source components

Linenfold includes open-source software, including Tesseract OCR and tesseract.js (Apache 2.0), PDF.js (Apache 2.0), React (MIT), MiniSearch (MIT), fflate (MIT), idb (ISC), Phosphor Icons (MIT) and the Geist typeface (SIL Open Font License).

Provided as is

Linenfold is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
